Ian Edwards here in Tokyo. I joined the gamification movement when I was researching how to improve motivation in the EFL class. I decided to write some essays for a course I was taking and the research helped convert me. The original page I hit was Mochoki's simple elegant description of gamification. I since took Werbach's course and am using some advanced gamification from Yu-kai Chou's octalysis.
I might appear to 'lurk' but in actuality the time zone difference is why I may never seem 'live'. cheers, ian
Thank you for sharing your recent explorations! I have taken the liberty of linking some external supplements for any other gamesMOOC-ers who might need a little "levelling". Also, are you referring to Michał Mochocki? If not, please correct me! ^_^
Sorry to reply so late. Yes I am referring to Dr. Mochocki, I had hoped to write some papers for him, but the tutor in my course (intermediate composition) didn't like my using gamification for my topics. Initially she agreed but changed her mind, I still owe Dr. Mochocki some writing. *:|
